Use insulin wrong and it will seriously mess you up, death being the worst case. Use it smart and it will give you some serious mass. I’m not going to go into scare mongering about insulin, there are plenty of other sites that will do that, I will tell you about my personal use and what I think about it.
Why do I use insulin? Simple it increases the volume of glycogen which leads to an increase in muscle bulk. How? It prevents the breakdown of muscle protein. This means more muscle is made than destroyed, there by increasing the size of muscles.
The trick I found is not to use too much, I have met guys that have used as much as 40ius per shot, in my opinion that is asking for trouble, quick lesson, Insulin is a natural hormone secreted from the pancreas, which controls the levels of glucose in the body, inject to much and blood sugar falls to a very low level then this can lead to coma or death, this is not scare mongering its just the truth. Most guys go for two shots per day, we’re talking 40+ ius, that scares the crap out off me.
There are two popular ways to use it, 1. before breakfast and straight after training, 2. before breakfast and five or six hours later, some guys prefer a third option less popular which is a shot before each meal. I prefer the second option this gives me plenty of time to eat more carbs before I sleep, what scares me the most is a shot at night then shortly after going to bed, I would not be aware that my glucose levels are to low. A shot first thing in the morning makes sense to me, your glycogen levels are low, driving some energy in your muscles is a good idea. A shot after training makes sense too, your body is in a state of catabolism, force feeding carbs will holt the catabolic effect and start the recovery process. a basic rule I learned is to use 10grams of carbs for every iu, for me its just undoable to use 15 or 20 ius, especially after doing legs.
I don’t know that I’m smart or just scared to use a high dosage, so I have always use low dosages and for me the results I got I was satisfied, I couldn't see the point in using more if I got great results with the amount I was using. A good sign if you’re using enough is waking up in the morning feeling pumped. Another thing to remember you should never have side effects like sweating or shaking these are signs you’re using to much.
I personally have found that using insulin has given me some extra mass, would I have gained the same amount by just using anabolic's, maybe, but I started to use insulin when I just wasn’t getting any real results from the gear, so I opt for insulin, I never get the same feeling I do on insulin when I’m just using gear.
For me insulin has proven effective in gaining some mass, this is my personal experience in using and found no problem in doing so, I ‘am aware of the dangers so I think this is what keeps me from using high dosages, maybe if I use higher dosages I will see even greater results, true but I’m not prepared to take that risk.
If your think of using than my advice is learn the warning signs, your body gives plenty of warnings before you go into a coma, don’t use a night, if your sleeping you won’t feel the warning signs and don’t think more is better, you should never feel any side effects if you do that means you’re using to much.
One trick I learned with storing insulin is don’t put it the frig after you opened it and use it within 28 days, a doctor explained it to me once, informing me that it becomes less effective if you put it in the frig.
