Brand Name: Aldactone
Generic Name: Spironolactone |

The chemical name for spironolactone, 17-hydroxy-7α-mercapto-3-oxo-17α-pregn-4-ene-21-carboxylic acid γ-lactone acetate.
I use Aldactone solely during the last week before a competition, I usually start 5-6 days before a show in a dosage of 2 tablets of 50 mg daily. Do not try to use this to drain water in the last minute and no additional potassium should be taken since this would cause a life-threatening increase in the serum. It works by blocking the hormone aldosterone, causing the kidney to eliminate excess water . Aldactone is a potassium sparing diuretic unlike Furosemide. I would not recommend Aldactone if you suffer from gynecomastia, one side effect when using was sore nipples this is due to the fact that androgen level decreases and the estrogen level increases.
Dosage: 2 /50mg tablets per day
Usage: 5 – 6 days |
